Assignment
For your class assignment, you will do a book report using a book trailer. Your book trailer should relate important plot points of your book and show that you have read the book and understand it. You will also present an accompanying written book report based on the handout given in class. As you know, some books make better movies (and book trailers) than others. So choose your book carefully. The report should be on a book that you have recently read outside of class.
Tasks
You will be completing five (5) tasks
- 1. Read the book and decide on the most interesting parts.
- 2. View book trailers and write down what makes a book trailer interesting and persuasive. Which book trailers made you want read the book? What things do good book trailers have in common?
- 3. Collect/create music and pictures that will tell the story of your book. Keep in mind that the music and pictures should relate the same feel of your book. So if you read a scary book, your pictures should look dark or have frightened people and your music should sound scary.
- 4. Create a storyboard in class. This storyboard should show in what order you want to put your pictures in and include thoughts about how you want your pictures to transition, or change, into each other, and when you want your music to play.
- 5. Last, you will create the book trailer using Windows Movie Maker.
Note
This blog has a tutorial on how to make the book trailer. At this stage, you should have already downloaded, scanned, and/or made the pictures and music you want to use for your book trailer. If you still need to do this, try the sites below with the help of your teacher or librarian. Also, if you need help adding text to your pictures, see your teacher or the librarian.
